Rural collections
Some homes are hard to reach with standard waste collection trucks. For rural properties and/or those with access restrictions, your waste and recycling will be collected by a smaller waste collection vehicle, known as a rural vehicle.
Rural vehicles do not collect waste from private land. This is due to access problems, damage caused to vehicles and delays caused. Rural properties should present their waste at the nearest kerbside or at a designated collection point near the entry road to the property.
- We can’t collect waste directly from your house
- The rural vehicle may not have a bin-lift installed, in which case you will need to present your waste in bags
General waste
- You must use your own bin bags
- If you use a green bin to store your bags, don’t put loose rubbish inside – everything must be in bags
- We will only take one green bin or up to three bin bags
- If your bin or bags have the wrong things inside, we won’t empty them
Recycling
- We will give you blue reusable bags for recycling
- You’ll also get a grey bin to keep the bags safe from wind and rain
- You can put all recycling items together in the blue bags – no need to sort them
- You can now recycle:
- Plastic food trays
- Yoghurt pots
- Margarine/butter tubs
- Food and drink cartons
- Don’t put plastic bags in your recycling
- Please rinse out food and drink containers before recycling
- You can ask for more than one grey bin if needed
Collection day
- Rubbish and recycling are collected on the same day, but on different weeks
- Put your waste out by 6.30am
- After collection, bring your bin back to your property as soon as you can.
Important
- The Domestic Waste and Recycling Policy will be enforced.
- Thank you for helping us recycle – we really appreciate it!
